World FM Day is a day of celebration and recognition for facility managers and the entire FM profession. It’s a time to celebrate the behind-the-scenes heroes of the built environment and share well-deserved thanks for keeping our facilities healthy, safe and productive.

Below, we highlight just a few of TD’s FM experts who work on-site at a global airline headquarters.

Shawn Windham, Facilities Management Software Guru

While too humble to embrace the title of "guru," that's what many of his co-workers call him. Shawn Windham’s official title is facilities supervisor, CMMS Support. As the on-site administrator, Shawn oversees the computerized maintenance management system software (CMMS) used by our global airline client to manage its facility assets and maintenance at company headquarters.

In 2012, Shawn became the lead dispatch person for TD's on-site IFM team. Today, he oversees the CMMS software that controls the FM workflows, processes, equipment, scheduling and tasking. Shawn ensures everyone on the team has the proper access, training and reporting they need to do their jobs efficiently. In the 10-plus years he has been at our client’s headquarters, the campus has grown to include five buildings of office space and other facilities.

Ensuring that all the employees are safe, healthy and comfortable requires laser focus from every TD IFM employee. Shawn and the team work together to provide full maintenance services to the campus, including keeping the air and water clean and fresh. They work closely with the janitorial team to ensure spill hazards and work surfaces are cleaned and sanitized promptly and regularly. And pre-task safety plans are required to achieve Zero Harm to TD and corporate staffers.

Shawn considers anyone needing his assistance a customer. He is passionate about helping others and ensuring they are fully satisfied with the results. And he feels a strong sense of pride in a job well done. Shawn considers the IFM team his extended family. While he has become the resident software expert, Shawn quickly points out that he is one "cog in the gear of a great team" that works hard to exceed customer expectations. He certainly lives up to TD's core values, and we are pleased to have him on the IFM team.

Jimmy Park, Leader of People and Critical Systems

Jimmy Park, operations manager over critical systems at the headquarters, is responsible for the three central utility plants (CUPs) at this sprawling 300-acre campus. Jimmy and his team of 17 control operators, mechanics and supervisors use the building management system software to monitor the site's electrical infrastructure, chillers, cooling towers, boilers, lighting and more. Downtime is not an option for airline operations, so Jimmy and the team must be hyper-vigilant and instantly responsive to critical changes or events. Customer satisfaction is extremely important to Jimmy; he enjoys giving and receiving positive feedback for a job well done.

The CUP team makes sure the water in the cooling towers is free from disease-causing bacteria and keeps the CO2 detectors functioning properly. Weekly safety meetings, ongoing training and proper lockout/tagout procedures keep CUP technicians free from harm. And proactive maintenance on active and redundant equipment ensures there are no outages that could affect daily operations.

While Jimmy's personal values align perfectly with TD's core values, servant leadership and zero harm are his "big two."

Jimmy enjoys sharing his vast knowledge with the next generation of workers and leaders. He wants to see people succeed and reach their own career goals. More importantly, he truly cares about his co-workers and works hard to ensure everyone goes home safely to their families each night. His lifelong career in IFM, and his 10-year tenure with TD, are a testament to his commitment and success.
