Project Complexity
TD provided extensive value analysis and target value design, including budgeting, serviceability, constructability and life expectancy of the respective systems. The project team saved cost through material changes, redesign of the ductwork, relocation of the 12 100,000-cubic-feet-per-minute air handling units (AHU) and use of UV technology to change out the kitchen grease duct to an environmental duct.
TD also faced a unique challenge in accessing the remote cooling tower. A 75-foot tunnel was bored under an extremely active thoroughfare, accommodating the width of two 24-inch pipes to the tower. Approximately 3 million pounds of sheet metal and 330,000 linear feet of piping were installed.
