Project Complexity
One significant hurdle on this project was a 600-foot-long utility tunnel that connected the new bed tower to UT Southwestern’s Thermal Energy Plant. To expedite installation, TDIndustries prefabricated all of the utility piping racks in 40-foot lengths at TD’s 89,000-square-foot prefabrication plant in Dallas. This provided the needed structure for the electrical conduits, fire protection main and medical gas oxygen piping systems, all of which were installed together.
